Straily Struggles As A’s Lose 8-3 To Angels

OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) Dan Straily had gone three months without losing to anybody until running into C.J. Wilson and the Los Angeles Angels twice in the past week.

The Angels chased Straily in the fifth inning to hand him his second straight loss, beating the Oakland Athletics 8-3 on Thursday night.

Straily (6-4) gave up five runs and seven hits in 4 1-3 innings, striking out five and walking two. He hadn’t lost since May 15 at Texas before matching up against Wilson and the Angels in consecutive starts.

“I just wasn’t able to command the baseball,” Straily said. “I wasn’t keeping it down. I still got ahead, then they got to some balls, and obviously I left it too good. Just didn’t command it.”

Albert Pujols, Mike Trout and Mark Trumbo each drove in two runs for the Angels, who had just one extra-base hit. Wilson (11-6) allowed three…
